Despite the ever increasing pressure on household and business pockets the BBC were delighted with the campaign for 2010 and managed to raise over £18 million in donations on the night.
The chief executive of BBC’s Children in Need, David Ramsden, remarked, "In these tough times the millions raised tonight will make a real difference to thousands of young lives right across the UK. On behalf of the children I would like to thank everyone for their incredible generosity".
For more details about how the money will help support many great causes and for a list of these projects please visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/aboutus/whoyouvehelped.shtml
It’s still not too late to donate to the many good causes through the BBCs direct call donation line on 0345 733 2233

We intend to do this by donating two percent of the money we gain from the sales of our projector lamps from 1st September to 31st October. There are many charities that are worthy of our donations so choosing which charity to give to proved to be difficult.
However, after much deliberation we decided it would be nice to give a little back to those who buy and use our products regularly and as one of our main buyers are schools we decided it would be more appropriate to give to a children’s charity.
As there are no charities specifically for schools we chose to donate to a charity that would benefit children in general for a wide range of things such as raising money for disabled children or making a child’s final dream come true. As a result of this the charity that came to mind was Children in Need!!
It is therefore our mission to give the agreed two percent of the amount you pay for your projector lamps to the Children in Need charity. The more you buy, the more we donate!!
We thought you may like to know a little more about the charity that your money will be supporting. Here’s some information about what Children in Need is about and who they have and are wanting to help for those of you who do not already know.
It is the mission of Children in Need to help children and young people who are considered to be disadvantaged across the UK by providing them with the resources and support that will enable them to reach their full potential.
In 2008 the BBC Children in Need Appeal raised £38 million and for every penny the charity received, a penny went towards projects helping disadvantaged children in the UK. The charity can ensure that all the money donated is given to the children as the charity uses its investment income and Gift Aid to cover all running costs.
In light of this, you can then rest assured that the money we donate through your purchases will indeed reach the children and be used to benefit them in the ways deemed necessary to suit their needs. For example, the charity provides support in the form of grants to organisations working with children who may have experienced mental, physical or sensory disabilities;
behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.
More specifically, Children in Need have helped the Marlow Community Playgroup by providing their project with a nursery for children with profound special needs who are unable to access mainstream provision and also Maddie and Lillie by providing their project with a part-time social worker and therapy sessions for children such as themselves who have lost a significant adult through a life limiting illness.
In order for us to be able to help children like Maddie and Lillie please help us to help them by purchasing your projector lamps from us today, the small amount we donate will go a long way to making a big difference to a child today and will be much appreciated.
We also have a very interesting blog which ranges from eSafety through to educational news and technology news. Something for everyone.
